Delivered new to the Studt family of South Wales in 1886. When John Studt died in 1912 the ride was sold to Whittles of Camberley and were travelled around Surrey. In 1948 the ride was sold to Alf Whitelegg and was mostly referred to as the 'Whitelegg Gallopers'.
Renown was used to crane cars off the scenic ride and often had her fire kept lit constantly for 8 days at a time as she was needed for erecting, dismantling and generating for the ride.
Leonard P Lord the Chairman of Austin Cars started a factory in South Wales employing only disabled ex-miners.
The factory closed in 1974, this particular ride was built in 1953 by Wittickers using cars straight from the factory.
